The development of science and technology in agriculture, has been instrumental in increasing the production of various agricultural commodities. But climate change is also uncertain world led to decreased agricultural productivity. World energy crisis resulted in higher prices of agricultural commodities due to competition between food and energy are higher. Efforts to utilize biomass (agricultural products) has started a lot of research, not only as raw material for bioenergy, but also in an attempt to exploit agro-products into valuable economic products, and realize clean production in agro-industry.

Abstract

Business intelligence systems participate to deliver an accurate and useful information to appropriate decision makers within the necessary timeframe to support an effective decision making in dairy agro- industry. The objective of this study was to determine the role of business intelligence systems to support customer relationship management and quality in dairy-agro industry medium enterprise. The combine methods to develop this research included Unified Modeling Language (UML), Fuzzy, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Cube, On Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), Extract, Transform, Loading (ETL) and Data warehouse. Data warehouse model is supported by ETL process. Business Intelligence Model is an integration of Cube, Data warehouse Model and Fuzzy system and it helps for a fast and efficient transaction in the system. The design consisted of quality and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) sub model. The Role of In Quality Sub Model based on Fuzzy, FMEA, the highest Fuzzy Risk Priority Number (FRPN) was 692 with type of failure, sum of Total Plate Control, bigger than 1 million/mL. The CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Model with RFM (Recency Frequency Monetory) and Customer Life Value (CLV) methods with OLAP Cube, the highest rank CLV for dairy processing industry to get potential customer was at PT FFI. Abstract

Fish oil is one of important fatty acid sources that contains Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid such as eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA).Omega-3 fatty acid in acylglycerol form (monoester) is considered better as food chemical form because it is digested easily by human digestive system. In this research, monoester was produced using Aspergillus niger lipase which cut the acylglycerol chain in the sn (1) and (3). Organic solvent especially hydrophobic solvent was used in the hydrolysis to increase the catalytic activity of the enzyme. The hydrophobic solvent used in this research had hydrophobicities between 2 until 4, such as toluene, hexane, and heptane. The objective of this research was to determine temperature, pH, and percentage of water added which produce the highest degree of hydrolysis in the presence of organic solvent. The correlation between the yield and the amount of omega-3 was also investigated. The variables used were temperature (25-65oC), pH (5-9) and water addition (1-5%V/V). In the toluene media, the highest degree of enzymatic hydrolysis reached 15.69% at 45oC, pH 5, and water addition of 1%V/V. In the hexane media, it reached 75.12% at 45oC, pH 5, and water addition of 5%V/V, and in the presence of heptane, it reached 23.94% at 25oC, pH5, and water addition of 1%V/V. Meanwhile, in the presence of toluene, it showed 3, 01% of total omega-3 that all of them was EPA. In the hexane media, total omega-3 was 21.93% with EPA amount of 17.75% and DHA of 1.21% and in the heptane media, total omega-3 was 12.1% with amount of EPA of 10.23%, and DHA of 1.87%. According to degree of hydrolysis, it can be concluded that hexane gave the best result for the enzymatic hydrolysis of fish oil by the lipase with addition of organic solvent.Keywords: fish oil, lipase, organic solvent, Omega-3,EPA, DHA

Abstract

Integrated agroindustry and agrotourism is an opportunity to develop the rural economics in Kali Bekasi watershed. The objective of this research was to develop a sustainable integrated system of agroindustry and agrotourism. The metodhs used for this study included analytical hierarchy process (AHP), Bayes method, and exponential comparison method (ECM). The results showed that top upstream watershed of Kali Bekasi was selected as the best location for the project. Five products of agroindustry, namely rice flour, tapioca, bamboo furniture, banana chips, and ground coffee were selected as the priority to be developed with three scenarios of tourist attractions, i.e: cultivation, harvesting/post-harvesting, and processing. Integration of the project was economically feasible with IRR of 31%, Net B/C of 1.95, and the total revenue from all tourist attractions of Rp 36, 905,000 per week. The weekly added values of agroindustry for each tourist attraction were Rp 11.760.000, Rp12.546.000, and Rp 12.563.000 respectively. The involvement of stakeholders including farmer associations, NGO, local youth organization (Karang Taruna), financing institution, SMEs, and local government is essentially required to implement this project with a community-based development approach.Keywords: agroindustry, agrotourism, watershed, AHP, Bayes method, MPE

Abstract

Sardine (Sardinella lemuru) fisheries in Bali Straits has been questioned in term of its sustainability due to its declining harvest in last several years. This condition created a big impact to fishing activity and fish processing industry. To solve this problem, it is necessary to find out the solutions. The objective of this study was to calculate technical efficiency of purse seine fishing effort in the Bali Strait. This idea was based on the fact that the classical model of fisheries management that has been applied were not provide optimum results. If the conventional fisheries management in the last decades was approached from biological aspect, this study attempted to approach it from fishing efforts,i.e. the technical efficiency of fishing effort. The efficiency of fishing effort was calculated by using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The study has been conducted in Muncar, focusing on purse seine fishing gear which was used to capture sardine. The results of this study indicated that the fishing effort using purse seine in the Bali Straits, especially in Muncar, was inefficient. The variable inputs which used to capture sardine was not reached an optimum value. Furthermore, in order to manage purse seine fisheries in Bali Strait, the results of this study were used as an alternative to the management of purse seine fisheries in the Bali Strait.Keywords: Bali strait, DEA, purse seine, sardine, technical efficiency

Abstract

Sugar cane industry generates wastes, such as bagasse and filter cake which were still not used optimally. One of the alternative utilizations is through the co-composting process to produce compost. The objectives of the study were to utilize bagasse and filter cake from the sugar industry waste for composting and to determine the effect of aeration and C/N ratio to the process and the quality of compost. Method of composting was carried out by using the aerated static pile with two factors, i.e. aeration and C/N ratio. Aeration was given in the form of active aeration for 1 hour in the first week, of 0.4 and 1.2 l / min.kg, and C/N ratio of 30, 40, and 50 for both aerations. Co-composting process had formed mesophilic temperature with the highest at 38 oC, with a range of pH 6.0-7.5 at day 22 and then constant in the range of 6.8-8.0. C/N ratio final compost produced was 17-25, with the biggest C/N ratio decreases at the initial C/N ratio of 50, whereas the aeration rate of 1.2 l/min.kg gave bigger changes in C / N ratio.Keywords: co-composting, bagasse, blotong, aeration

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of known alternative fuels, obtained from vegetable oil, for example rubberseed oil and palm oil. Conventionally, biodiesel obtained by reacting oil with methanol and catalyst for one hour at temperature of 65 oC with mechanical stirring. Reaction time of this conventional method can be shortened by applying ultrasonic energy. The objectives of this research were to produce rubberseed biodiesel and palm biodiesel by applying ultrasonic energy, and to characterize palm biodiesel, rubberseed biodiesel, and blended of both. The result showed that ultrasonic transesterification of palm oil gave a greater yield than conventional methods, the yield ranged from 96.52% to 98.03% and the acid number ranged from 0.50 to 0.63 mg KOH/g sample for ultrasonic transesterification. Ultrasonic esterification succeeded in reducing acid value of rubber seed oil, which was smaller than acid value of 30 minutes by the conventional esterification. Ultrasonic transesterification only succeeded to produce biodiesel from rubberseed oil that has gone through the 30 minutes ultrasonic esterification (78.84% yield) and through an one hour conventional esterification (91.55% yield). Rubberseed biodiesel, oil palm biodiesel, and blended of both biodiesel met the SNI-04-7182-2006 on the characteristics of acid value, density, viscosity, and cloud point. The iodine number of rubberseed biodiesel was still above the standard, but adding oil palm biodiesel to rubberseed biodiesel can reduce the iodine number of blended biodiesel to met the standards.Keywords: biodiesel, rubberseed oil, palm oil, ultrasonic, blending characteristics

Abstract

Losses of horticulture product were caused by several reasons, one of them was the un-approriate post-harvest handling. One of the post-harvest method that could maintain the quality of the horticulture product is controlling the storage temperature and packaging techniques to that product. The objectives of this research were to determine the characteristics of horticultural products (tomato and bell pepper) in the cold storage that were packed with bioplastics and high density polyethylene (HDPE). The sample of packed products stored at three temperature levels (5, 10, and 15oC) for 21 days. The results showed that the types of plastic influenced respiration rate (CO2 production rate). The tomatoes packased with bioplastic had climateric phase at the day of 21th which was layer than the one of HDPE. However, bell pepper packsed with bioplastic started senescence phase at 9th day which was taste than the one HDPE at 12th day.Keywords: bioplastic, cold storage, tomato, bell pepper

Abstract

World crises that occurred in the last decades indicated the scarcity of fuel. Fuel consumption is unbalanced with fuel production so it needs the development of alternative sources of energy. One of them is to use nyamplung seed. Nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum L.) is one of the biodiesel alternative raw material that has a large potential to be developed to overcome the problem of scarcity of fuel. The advantages of nyamplung as raw material for biodiesel are the dry seeds have high yield (approximately 70%) and its use does not compete with food purposes. The purpose of this study was to analyze techno-economic aspect of biodiesel industry establishment of nyamplung seed. Scope of research included techno-economic on the market and marketing aspects, technical and technological, management and organization, environmental, legal, valuation and commercialization, as well as financial aspects. This biodiesel industry is planned to be located in Banyuwangi, Indonesia with the selection criteria associated with using Analytical Hierarchy Process and the industrial capacity of 1000 liters per day with raw materials as much as 4500 kgs per day. After the assessment of all aspects, it can be concluded that the industry of biodiesel from nyamplung seed is feasible to be established.Keywords: techno-economic, nyamplung, biodiesel industry
